More About Gary Unger

The Author & Mentor

In 2016, Gary retired from CPG, entrusting the firm’s legacy to the leadership team in Stamford, CT. His transition to authorship began with Your Architecture Career (Allworth Press), a guide designed to offer students and principals the "tips and tricks" of the trade. The book's impact became global in 2024 when its rights were acquired for distribution throughout China.
Gary was honored as the Real Estate Person of the Year by the March of Dimes, a testament to his influence on the industry.

The Sculptor: A New Dimension

Since retiring, Gary has returned to the physical essence of design through sculpture. This tactile pursuit informs his unique perspective on technology; by working with raw form, he maintains a grounded understanding of the human element that must remain at the heart of the "Agentic Leap" into AI.

Author statement

"Throughout my career—from founding CPG Architects to developing software at Link Systems—I have always been fascinated by how we organize space and information. My books on architecture and AI explore the digital 'leap' we are currently taking, but my sculpture work keeps me grounded in the physical.
I believe that as we move toward 'Agentic Design' and AI-driven workflows, the architect’s role becomes more like that of a sculptor: we are no longer just drafting lines; we are shaping intent, emotion, and experience. My art is a reminder that even in a world of algorithms, the human touch remains the ultimate blueprint."
